How to Prepare the Child’s Educational File in Childcare Services

This training follows the directives of the Ministry of Families, as outlined in:

Government of Québec – Decree 479-2019, May 8, 2019
Act on Educational Childcare Services (Chapter S-4.1.1) – Modification

Article 123.0.3:
The childcare provider must ensure that a periodic developmental profile of the child is completed, dated, and signed in November and May each year by the person implementing the educational program if they hold a permit, or by the person responsible for a recognized home childcare service.

The educational profile must briefly describe the child’s development in each domain specified in Article 6.10, allowing for tracking their progress.

This training document provides comprehensive information on observing children in a childcare setting.

Included in the Training:

  • 5 age-specific observation tools to be completed and shared with parents (fillable electronically or printable).
  • 10 complementary observation tools that can be added to the child’s file as needed.

Note: The proposed tools are optional and serve as a supplement to the training. Educators are free to use them at their discretion.

Training duration: 6 hours, including 2 hours on child development and 4 hours on the educational program.
